The Sounds of Sickness

(November 1 2009)

People were making some extremely strange noises on the repeater this afternoon. There was heavy breathing, strange laughter, squeaking, whispering, belching, whistling, growling, farting and more. Some would say that those responsible need psychological treatment. But where in fact is the line drawn between simply making silly noises and possessing an actual disorder? Who knows...

In the evening Tony G6MWS and Trevor M1CXF who were making use of the repeater were joined by a heavy breather and a Sore Throat Man (groan). Besides the growling and laughing somebody was transmitting silent carriers for long periods of time causing a great deal of obtrusive heterodyning.
